About me

I have had the honor of serving in the local church my entire life in a wide variety of ministries. I was born into a pastor’s family. I have two brothers who are senior pastors and a father who recently retired after 35+ years of pastoral ministry. At age 16, I felt the Lord calling me into full-time ministry as a pastor. Under the leadership of my church, I began honing my gift in teaching Scripture and in ministry. In pursuit of my call, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry at Clearwater Christian College and my Master of Theology Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. Below is a brief summary of some of my experience serving within the body of Christ.

Dallas theological seminary

At Dallas Theological Seminary, I had the privilege of learning under professors such as Dr. Darrell Bock, Dr. Robert Chisholm, Dr. Mark Bailey, and many others. I graduated with my Master of Theology (ThM) in 2018. At DTS, I honed my passion for theology, church history, pastoral leadership, and church ministry with an emphasis on how that intersects with spiritual formation within the church in an individual and corporate manner.

Bent Tree bible fellowship

At Bent Tree Bible Fellowship, a church of 1,500 people, I lead their Communications Team. This central role has given me experience helping lead and assist in the mission of every department of the church. Some of the other responsibilities included managing staff, content creation, writing, marketing, and developing multi-campus workflow strategies. I also assisted in helping Bent Tree navigate through the COVID-19 crisis. These experiences helped develop my understanding of how a large church staff should operate properly. I firmly believe that a healthy staff culture is essential to ministry and is often the harbinger for the health of the body as a whole. This was invaluable in applying and balancing my Seminary pastoral training. I was able to see a church structure from the top to the bottom and the ways that it can function in unity. I was also able to serve in developing a lay leadership program that included theology, leadership training, and character development.

Northwest bible church

I served at Northwest Bible Church, a church of 1,300 people, during my education at Dallas Theological Seminary. I served primarily in the Young Adults Ministry. There I preached on a regular basis and shepherded young men and women into deeper relationships with Christ through a small group structure, and events. I had the experience of managing volunteers, working within a church budget, and casting vision for ministry. My goal was to integrate young adults into the church in order to develop inter-generational ministry. This required understanding both younger generations and older in order to create an environment where organic ministry could happen. I found that young adults were often hungry for mature believers to disciple them and learn from. It was a joy to be a part of seeing generations learn together within the body of Christ. I also served in the broader church, helping to connect guests and newcomers to the body.

At Central Florida Bible Church, I had the opportunity to teach the Scripture on a regular basis. I taught both individual sermons and book studies. Other ministries opportunities included kid’s ministry, and serving on the missions team. Here, I was able to learn under the direction of my father, John Pereira, who was the Senior Pastor. He and the elder board helped train and educate me in orthodox theology, compassionate ministry, and missional emphasis during my formative years.

additional experience

I have served in youth groups at The Campus Church in Pensacola, FL and at New Testament Baptist Church in Tampa, FL during my college years. Serving in these contexts gave me experience in the important work of reaching youth for Christ and helping develop their relationship with God. During my time at Dallas Theological Seminary, I also had the privilege of serving in their Human Resources Office. This role helped me understand and gave me experience in the legal and financial considerations that non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations must take into account to function properly.
